Progress this week

Posted at 08:12 PM on August 25, 2009

Well I took some vacation time from work this week. I took it because I have a bunch saved up and well a lot of projects that need to be finished. The big project that needed to be finished was my cemetery fence. Well I finished it today. Pics will be posted soon.

I also put my grave digger back together. He needed to be redone. His motor that moves his head was build in front and needed to be moved to the back. Now he looks more natural and a bonus now has a hunch back. I also had gloves on him last year and wanted real hands. I found two hands and put them on him. They look great. I need to paint them as they are different tones. I also need to finish his head. I got some eye blanks to install and will get them put in the head sometime this week.

I have a ground breaker that has been unfinished for about 3 months. Got it done today as well. I used the spooky Sam method of using plastic bags to skin it. Works really well. You build the frame with wire hangers and then cover all surfaces with plastic bags and hit it with a heat gun. You then keep layering until you think it looks good.

I repainted a few tombstones and added some finishing touches to others. Adding strength and anchors to some that kept falling down last year. None of my tombstones will fall over this year. The only thing that sucks is I use rebar on my fence and tombstones as well as my columns to anchor them. Well our neighborhood is all built on a big rock. It takes me a few tries to find a spot the rebar will go in far enough to secure anything. Still some work to do.

I plan on getting my monster in a box back up and running. Kid sat on lid last year. Also updating the look a bit by spacing out the boards and making the lid lighter. I almost have it done only a small amount of work until I am done with it.

Still need to add some sound to my trash can trauma. I finally got the sound box for it I just need to install it. I hope to get it done this week as well. This was my first pneumatic prop and I am excited to have it in the haunt this year. I already have all the parts to build another pneumatic prop but that will be for next year.

Wow I didn't realize how much I got done this week until I started writing this all down. I still have lots to do but this week has got me feeling much better about not having to rush so much the week of Halloween. Well off to the garage to finish something
